Are there any good examples on how to filter nodes from the diagram?

I believe I use the EditPolicy SORT_FILTER_CONTENT_ROLE and create a class that extends the SortFilterContentEditPolicy but how do I use this?

I want to be able to allow the user to click an action to enable a type of filter to filter out some of the nodes on my diagram much like how you can filter out Connection Labels.

I found this forum post but couldn't find any additional information about it:

Did you ever figure this out? I also need to find a way to reduce an overload of information so for example filter out all but one specific node class!
