How to limit the amount of history which is shown? [message #661711] Sat, 26 March 2011 11:38 Go to next message

My EGit shows the FULL history of all projects in the history window.
This is so much that it takes a minute until the history is loaded.

I've looked at all buttons and at all configuration entries but did not see anything about setting a limit of history display.

Can you help me out?

Thanks

This can be done in the preferences: Team > Git > Maximum number of commits
to show

We should maybe offer that directly from the history view.

If you have performance issues with large repos you may also switch off the
"Show tag sequence" check box. This calculates links to previous/next tags
in the message viewer which is quite expensive.

Looking through Eclipse global preferences for EGit as well as project preferences and I cannot find either of those settings.
I'm running EGit 0.11.3 (latest I could find within the last few days) under Helios on Mac (64-bit cocoa).
Should I be looking elsewhere for these?

No, sorry, it indeed is not yet part of EGit 0.11.3. You would have to use
the nightly build to get that feature.
