Dear forum members,

I'm building WTP binary from source files (acquired from CVS) with release engineering methodology.
After successful execution of below parts,
- build-wtp-wst-sdk
- build-wtp-wst.tests
- build-wtp-jst-sdk
- build-wtp-jst.tests
- build-wtp-dali-sdk
- build-wtp-dali.tests

p2.repo2runnable task is failing with below error.

========
[AntRunner] BUILD FAILED
[AntRunner] D:\build\WTP\projectBuilders\wtp-R3.2\webtools.releng\releng .wtpbuilder\distribution\wtp.build\createmainzips.xml:45: The following error occurred while executing this line:
[AntRunner] D:\build\WTP\projects\wtp-R3.2\workdir\maps\webtools.maps\re leng\packages\mirrortasks.xml:64: The following error occurred while executing this line:

Does anyone have idea about this?

Thanks regards,

Mitsuki

Just offhand ... it might mean some earlier step failed and there is
something missing (such as one of the repos it is trying to collect).

To find out, be sure to search the ant output log, from the top, for
"BUILD FAILED".

The build has been set up so that even if one step fails, it pushes
forward doing as much as it can. (This has been improved some in more
recent versions of the wtp builder, but appears you are using an older
version ... I can tell because 'ziputils.xml' is no longer in the
wtp.build directory).

If not that, then usually there is a more detailed p2 or workspace log
that is created during those p2 related operations ... somewhere in the
workdir.

Dear Williams-san,

Thanks for comments. I don't see any "BUILD FAILED" message before p2.repo2runnable failure.

Also I found 3 mirrorlog files. 2 of them has only header information as below.

I'm not sure if above means any error or not.
Do you have any idea?

Thanks regards,

Dear Williams-san,

I just tried to debug repo2runnable task, and got below error message during the debugging.

Do you see any direct cause and resolution?

Hmmm, I kind of know that what means, but not the cause or cure. I think
the meaning is just what it says ... bad signature ... which could
indicate tampering ... but more likely just means a bad download or
similar.

So, not sure what to advise ... make sure all those temp directories are
clean before a build (if its not automatically cleaned up) ... you might
try check or make sure your java invocation (to do the build, and p2
operations) uses -Declipse.p2.mirrors=false just in case a mirror
somewhere has a bad copy. And, of course, check the original
org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.oc4j bundle (if you can "snag" it) to
make sure its signature can be verified. Note, from the log, what it is
doing is getting the org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.oc4j.jar.pack.gz
version, using pack200 to unpack it, and then finding the error, I think.

Of course, I'd also encourage you to consider if you "need" that
org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.oc4j bundle and see if you can get a
subset of WTP to build. I'm not sure what you are trying to do, or why
you are rebuilding everything ... but chances are you need only a subset?

Ohhhh, you know what ... thinking of your log messages makes me realize
you are building on windows. That will definitely be an uphill battle,
if even possible. First, there's likely some "platform specific" steps
that have snuck into the scripts, but worse, there are some known limits
with windows path or directory length that that are likely violated
during normal build steps (I forget details ... but 255 characters per
directory name?, or 1024 per path?, or ... something). You'd save
yourself some trouble (probably) if you had a linux machine you could
use for builds. But, I know everyone can't and if you do find platform
specific limitations, feel free to open a bug, if they can be fixed on
our end.

Good luck,

Dear Williams-san,

Thanks for your comments. Now I could run the build until the end without any errors...! I googled for signing errors with eclipse and build, then found that some inconsistency in signing information can cause this kind of error.

Previously, I was using the official release version of eclipse binary as "referenced" eclipse for build. So I replaced it with my own built version and tried again. Now the build runs fine and got no errors.

I'm not completely sure if this is the right solution, but anyway I will repeat builds and see if I get any errors.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks regards,

Mitsuki
