Hello,
I have reported a bug about this problem, but they tell me it is a Ubuntu problem, where it is not.
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=328725
When I upgraded, eclipse started to act strange. The CDT feature stoped working. I only saw something like this
<C/C++>
in the perspective switcher (right and up). It didn't compile, neither opened archives. The CDT feature disappeared from the preferences menu.
So I tried to reinstall it. I made click in Eclipse's "Install New Software" and from there, in "Already Installed" I clicked in everything with the name C and uninstaled. I restarted Eclipse, but nothing happened, it just continued appearing as installed when I tried to install it with "Install New Software"
I have tried everithing, also deleted "completely" Eclipse, but the <C/C++> continued appearing and CDT feature continued appearing as installed.
¿Any Idea?

1.-
Ubuntu 10.04
I installed Eclipse like this
$ sudo apt-get install eclipse
then, cdt, installed via eclipse
Help -> install new software -> all avaiable sites -> programmig languajes -> c/c++ development tool
next and gave an error, I searched all over the internet and I found that i had to install:
$ sudo apt-get install eclipse-pde eclipse-plugin-cvs
I tryed to install cdt feature once more, and succeded.
3 months later ubuntu 10.10 is released, and i do
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
It installs, and I try to program as I had been doing for 3 months, but, there only appears <C/C++> in a strange way where there usually apeared C/C++.
I try to install CDT feature, but it is already installed. I try to uninstal CDT feature, but it doesn't figure as uninstalled thought it is not in "installed software" list.
I decide to do
$ sudo apt-get purge eclipse*
$ sudo reboot
then
$ sudo apt-get install eclipse
$ sudo apt-get install eclipse-pde eclipse-plugin-cvs
and I start Eclipse. I try to install CDT feature, but it is still installed ¿?
my patience ended and I did
sudo apt-get purge eclipse*
$ sudo rm -rf /usr/share/eclipse
and almost everything that had eclipse in its name.
I did:
$sudo apt-get install eclipse
double clicked in eclipse and eclipse crashed,
with a log, that pointed to jar files.
I reinstalled the OS, but then I found the answer:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587657

Go to "Window", "Preferences" open "General" and select
"Perspectives". Do you see the perspective "<C/C++>" in the "Available
perspectives" box? If so, delete it and restart Eclipse. See if that
helps at all.
