Marco,
I am curious as why you would want to do this. A dataset is pretty
simple to implement either using a scripted dataset (java or javascript)
or implement your own oda.

Understood. This would be a good enhancement request. Do you mind
opening an enhancement request. Right now the cube engine is pretty
tightly integrated with the data engine.
