How to enable auto-update file content when externally modified? [message #637532]

Assume I have a registered and even opened file in Eclipse.
Sometimes the file in focus is modified externally (=outside of Eclipse).

How do I tell Eclipse to AUTOMATICALLY update/refresh the file content in Eclipses editor pane as well?
resp. how do I disable it?

There's currently only an option to automatically refresh the whole
workspace. Another solution is currently under investigation. For
details see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=14867
