Dear EPP developers,
We (the OSR group at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg) are interested in using the
UDC data for (academic) research purposes, and have the following
questions about the data available:
- is the 2010 data going to be made available?
- according to this page http://www.eclipse.org/org/usagedata/index.php
as well as the summary reports (esp. Geography), a lot of information is
collected which are not being released in the filtered data. e.g.
everything described in "The UDC also captures some basic information
about the runtime environment..."
- the filtered data shows declining usage for the last four months of
2009, and yet the "Usage Trends" report on the site shows that usage is
increasing. Is there a change in the way UDC collects data, or in the
way the data is being filtered?
- There probably needs to be links to the filtered data, to the EPP
forum, and to the sign-up instructions for the newsgroup.
Many thanks,

The public data is restricted only to that collected from org.eclipse
bundles to ensure that we don't release anything that might be
considered personal or public. We are, if anything, a little over
aggressive in our pruning. You can make a request for access to more
complete data via email to eclipse_udc@eclipse.org. Unfortunately, due
to privacy concerns, we cannot be as transparent as we'd like.
The 2010 data should be available. I'll take a look to see what's happened.
I don't know how to account for the decline in data. I believe that the
usage stats are correct, but I can revisit our queries.
