When I try to get the web tools platform 3.2 from the update site in my eclipse I see the a Web tools platform (WTP) and a Web Tools platform SDK (WTP SDK) listed. What's the difference? I want to get into web development and I'm guessing i need to download this if im going to be working on eclipse.

Also is php a part of the wtp, or is that a separate thing on its own?

You just need WTP. The WTP SDK is needed if you plan to develop WTP
itself or a plugin for it.

PHP support is offered by PDT (PHP Development Tools) plugin, which
requires a part of WTP.

So it's only for developers of WTP, SDK packages contains source codes

No, PDT is separate project, but it depends on WTP, so when you want to i=
nstall PDT, so WTP must be installed.

Ok, thanks.

When I search for php development tools, however, I find Php development tools (PDT) SDK Feature, and not Php development tools (PDT). Should I download this SDK feature?

Yes, as it seems like PDT is not offering any non-SDK package.
