The plugin org.eclipse.ecf.provider.xmpp declares the extension points
"iqProviders" and "extensionProviders" for registering the providers that
the Smack API needs. However, I do not see any code that makes use of
these extension points. Are these extension points working or are they
there as a placeholder?

They are currently there as placeholders. Recently ECF has not had the
resources to develop them.

If people are interested in seeing them developed, please open an
enhancement request here:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=ECF& bug_severity=enhancement

and if possible, offer to work on the implementation and make a
community contribution.

Thanks much,

Scott
