Maybe you misunderstood Patrick?
The option to export images can be found in the context menu. You have to click into the diagram with the right button of your mouse. Then the context menu appears next to your mouse pointer. The option can not be found in the menu at the top of the window!
In the context menu there are several items starting with "Filter views...", "Add", "Navigate", and the fourth item is "File". Inside "File" you can find "Save As Image File...". You can choose between several formats like GIF, PNG, SVG, and PDF in the dialog. Though PDF is not working for me.

Hi,
(Tested on Papyrus 0.8.0 RC3)
With the diagram open, right-click anywhere in the diagram, then select
"File/Save as image file".

Yann
