Greetings all,

If you are attending the IHE North American Connectathon in Chicago, IL
next week and you are using software from the Eclipse Open Healthcare
Framework (OHF) at this event, please read the following.

We are genuinely excited that so many of you are using OHF. It gives us
an opportunity to demonstrate the importance of standards based open
source software in the healthcare domain. Next week will be an intense
week. Four members of the OHF team will be at Connectathon to support
the OHF software (Eishay Smith Matthew Davis, Glenn Deen, Sarah Knoop).
There are far more of you than there are of us. So, coordination of our
efforts and communication is important to the success of all.

Communicating and keeping in touch
------------------------------------------------------
Connectathon has a lot of activity going on, and can be quite chaotic.
Instead of all of us trying to chase down one another, we are going to
try and manage the chaos using Skype for chats, notices, and
announcements, as well as a local Bugzilla for reporting and tracking
problems we find during the event, and a web page holding FAQs for
things we learn during the event.

1 ) We will open up one "monster" skype chat with all of you and use
this chat as a means of formal communication. We will announce on this
chat when any fixes are in place and you can use this chat to announce
any bugs you have entered in bugzilla. This way we can keep all of you
scattered throughout the ballroom informed with the latest information.
To do so, everyone should have a skype account and please email us your
skype ID. We intend to open this chat the first thing on Monday morning.

2 ) If you are experiencing a problem with OHF software at Connectathon,
we ask you to first open a bug up in the Bugzilla application installed
on the distribution server. Then post the Bugzilla number to the
"monster" Skype chat. A member of the OHF team will look at these
reports in the order that they are received and will visit you at your
table as needed.

3) OHF support server at Connectathon
The OHF team is bringing a distribution and information server to the
event. This will run our local Bugzilla, the web server for sharing
important information and FAQs, and a distribution server to distrbute
OHF Bridge updates.

Server details:
address: 10.242.0.46
name: ibm8
Web/FAQ page: http://10.242.0.46/
Bugzilla: http://10.242.0.46/bugs/

Getting OHF Bridge updates
------------------------------------------
Those of you using the OHF bridge will each run your own local instance
of the Bridge on your Conncetathon test machine and can receive any
updates from the distribution server. We are not allowed to run a
central, shared instance of the OHF Bridge at Connectathon.

Getting OHF Plugin updates
----------------------------------------
For those of you using the OHF plugins updates to these will continue to
delivered via the Eclipse CVS repository you've been pulling from.

Working together and getting through Connectathon
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------
Connectathon testing is very time consuming. We found last year that
two weeks would the right length to get it all done. That said, we have
3 1/2 days to complete all tests before switching over to HIMSS workflow
testing. This means, as Steve Moore has pointed out repeatedly, that we
all must hit the ground running. Your preperation before hand is
vitial. Please review the tests assigned to your system. Be familar with
what partners you will need and what each test requires. If you are
using the Bridge, please download the "last before Connectathon OHF
Bridge" version that was released yesterday (Jan 10,2007), and have it
installed on your system. We will not be able to spend lots of time
helping with installations on Monday morning.

Finally, The OHF team is at the Connectathon to support the OHF
software. We are not there to manage your company's testing. It is up to
you to arrange testing with your testing partners and to schedule your
tests to be evaluated by an official Connectathon test manager. Any
specific Connectathon testing questions should be directed toward a
Connectathon test manager. Time permitting we are happy to have one of
the OHF team present at your test evaluation meetings with the test
managers, so as to answer specific OHF questions. Please invite us if
you need us.

Getting Organized on Monday
-------------------------------------------
To close, we'd like to have a face to face meeting with you all Monday
morning (Jan 15) at 9 am so that we know your faces and you know ours,
and to go over any last minute details. Since none of us particularly
know the layout in detail, we will tentatively "meet by the food" at the
end of the ballroom. Failing this ... we can congregate around one of
the IBM tables (L11).

Summary
--------------
1. Read the tests assigned to your system.
2. Install the bridge if you're using it.
3. Send us your team's Skype IDs
4. Come and meet us on Monday morning.

regards
