This is a summary of the outcomes from the FTF meeting held in Washington Monday October 24th 2005.

Project Status
--------------
The project has been officially adopted; the paperwork will be filled out this week. There is a fair degree of interest
in the project (as reflected by the diversity of the attendees).
Kim Clohessy is the project lead. The committer list is still being finalised, as is the membership of the architecture board.
Project Management and Organization
-----------------------------------
The development process already proposed on the newsgroup (See "OHF Project
Development Policy") was discussed and accepted with slight modifications.
The modifications are around the concept of committers, and the use of the
term "component" instead of "sub-project":
* OHF will have a core group of committers
* the committers are expected to be a committer on one or more components
* the committers have the authority to act on behalf of the architecture board.
* all the components will have their own committers.
I will post an updated OHF development policy shortly, and it will be posted to the newsgroup and the website
Overall OHF Framework
---------------------
OHF will consist of two parts; a set of specific tools to
solve recognised problems in healthcare, and an overall framework which will bring those together.
The overall goals of the framework are:
* present an easily managed interface to OHF for programmers
* allow the users to manage the configuration of the OHF sub-system
* provide a central and coherent basis for security throughout the OHF
* provide a coherent approach to extension points, etc.
* gather the entire OHF work into a single Eclipse feature?
Discussions are required to further clarify the framework.
This will proceed on a mailing list, with regular telecons, and possibly skype chat
conferences as well; Don Jorgenson is to lead this work. If you are interested in
being involved, please notify Don at djorgenson@inpriva.com.
The Framework itself will be a component of OHF (at least
for now). A component proposal will be posted soon.
H3ET Project
------------
(H3ET = HL7 V3 Eclipse Tools)
This project was presented and discussed. The majority of discussion concerned the project
scope and it's partnerships. There will be on going discussion regarding whether one of the
existing committers on the proposal will officially represent HL7, or whether HL7 will
recommend an official representative; Comments on this issue to Woody Beeler at
woody@beeler.com
The group recommended this project to the committers for adoption as a component
CTS Project
-----------
This project was presented and discussed. There is an outstanding licensing issue for
Mayo - they have a requirement to prevent the Mayo name being used without
prior permission. Skip McGaughey is to work with Mayo to resolve this issue.
Subject to this being resolved, the group recommended this project to the committers for adoption as a component
During discussion of this project, the subject of ncicb
and CABIG came up (see https://cabig.nci.nih.gov/). Joe
Jasinski is to approach CABIG to see whether we should
interact/collaborate with this project.
Security Project
----------------
At present this project is seen as intimately connected with the OHF Framework project, and
further discussion is rolled into that project as described above.
There was also discussion concerning the IHE XUA profile and offering an implementation
of this. This matter is also referred to the Framework discussion for the time being.
XDS Project
-----------
This project was presented and discussed. The group recommended this project to the
committers for adoption as a component
OSGi / Server
-------------
This project was presented and discussed. The actual development
is probably a matter for the equinox project or the Geronimo team.
Eishay Smith to lead discussions with the Equinox team on this matter.
The OHF OSGi/Server project will focus on requirements and developing
code to use the output from the OSGi/Server work produced by Apache/Equinox
The group recommended this project to the committers for adoption as a component
Other projects
--------------
WADO Client. (proposed by IBM) - an eclipse extension (or web applet?) for viewing
DICOM images. We recommended that IBM further develop the proposal, post it to the
newsgroup, and then we will solicit further discussions, particularly from the PACS
community, before we progress the project
Smart Documents
(yet to be proposed by IBM/Jiva). A set of tools for dealing with Healthcare
documents, particularly CDA & CCR. More work is required to scope and plan
this project
