The open source OSEE project hosted through the Eclipse Foundation has
generated significant interested among many companies engaged in the
full lifecycle of Systems Engineering of complex products. As a result
of this interest, the OSEE Team had the opportunity to host six
presentations of various formats at EclipseCon. In fact, the OSEE Team
spent much of the week of the conference meeting with various interested
parties and discussing possible collaborations around the OSEE project.
There was wide recognition of the need for a common platform that
supported the full life-cycle of product development including true
end-to-end traceability and advanced product baselining. A number of
companies (DDC-I, EADS, Etish, Geensys, Inria, ITEMIS, Moskitt, Obeo,
and Rockwell Collins) signed up for working groups tasked with
collaborating on specific aspects of OSEE. Also a number of developers
from various companies expressed interest in being contributors to the
OSEE project and we are currently taking concrete steps (through the
Eclipse Foundation's defined development process) to accept their
contributions. In addition, parts of the American and European
automotive industries are exploring the possibility of basing their
entire tool-chain on Eclipse and have discussed with the leadership of
the Eclipse Foundation the idea of using OSEE as the basis for this.

We want to thank all those who took the time to talk with us and look
forward to future collaboration with everyone.
