Hiya guys

When i start up eclipse (3.32 with pdt 1.03) i get in the bottom bar "building php projects"...for about 45 minutes before it finally begins to build the workspace. This happens every time i start eclipse. I am working on a small-medium site, which references the zend framework. Is this build feature needed, or can it be turned off - if so, what will i lose out on?

Or is there any way to find out what's choking the builder for so long?

hello
we had similar problem, it was caused by slower samba resources and versioning
control. Some options were checked like "refresh before build" etc. Eclipse was
refreshing all files, asking for each file etc. There was huge amount of packets
over network, small but about 1000/second. Samba with such usage is very slow.
We solved out problem by:
+ turning on some memory cache options (for svn)
+ tweaking samba (new version, some options)
+ disabling some svn updates

Moving resources from samba to local disk cured problem completely.
BTW: if you are still using such old Eclipse You should upgrade.

Thanks for the replies. The last time i used the latest vesion (2.1 if i recall correctly) the autocomplete was horrific so i've stayed on 1.03 ever since.

Interesting about version control - i have tortoiseSVN installed (developing on a windows box) so that may have something to do with it.
