authentication to LDAP from an SWT application [message #501887] Fri, 04 December 2009 05:08 Go to next message

Hello,

We are writing our first SWT app, and are wondering how we can authenticate the user from the client, to an ldap server (eg Oracle's OID) . We also would like to fetch the groups to which this user belongs.

Can we connect directly from the client¨PC to an LDAP servoer, should we send a RMI request to a session bean running on a remote JVM, who than connect's to the LDAP ?
Which java packages should we use ?

In generald : what are the options the choose from ?
I've search with google, but can't seem to find much info about this topic.

many tnx,

Chris.
