hi folks,
i am using the jee package of Galileo.
the omnipresent PlSql Menu drives me nuts b/c it has the same
accelerator P as the Project Menu.
since i use several perspectives and diff. workspaces i have to
deactivate it manually for each, not a task i enjoy.
then i noticed that there is a folder
eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.datatools.capabilities_1.0.0.v20 090611-0411
and thought: maybe i can do it for good in capabilities, but i dont find
any entry there...
is this i a bug?
so, what do i do to get rid of the menu?
BTW: if possible, i just would like to remove the plugin that creates
the menu entry but i was unable to find it.

Well, I'm glad you tracked it down. Sorry it was such a pain to do so...
I just looked at the SR1 build of the JEE package and found the DTP
capability, but it's buried.
If you go to General->Capabilities and click on "Advanced", it brings up
a dialog "Advanced Capabilities Settings."
Go to Development->Data Tools Platform and you should be able to turn it
off there. I just tested it and it does shut off all datatools
functionality (perspectives, views, etc.).
It's quite buried. IMHO, the Capabilities bits of Eclipse need some
serious work to actually make them useful.
Hope that helps!

i found the culprit bundle that makes the menu
plsqleditor_0.4.9
from http://sourceforge.net/projects/plsqleditor/
quite plain and clear if you are not looking for a .datatools.* plugin among those 750+ that come with the JEE package.
i dont how it made it into my installation and am hence sorry to have bothered u with this.
anyhow, thx for the support, but one of my points regarding capabilities hasnt been answered:
in my installation i see the bundle
D:\eclipse\eclipse-jee-galileo-win32\eclipse\plugins\org.ecl ipse.datatools.capabilities_1.0.0.v20090611-0411
the README states:
Notes:
This is a very high level implementation of capabilities across all
of DTP. It basically turns all menus, views, editors, and perspectives
off (any plug-in with the pattern org.eclipse.datatools.*).
from this i conclude there is/should be a checkbox in prefs/general/capabilities to turn off all DTP stuff as the readme says, but i dont see such a checkbox.
hence the question: is this a bug?
or how shall i interpret the above plugin and readme?
sorry, i guess my posting was not really clear but since i thought the PLSQL menu comes from the DTP turning that off would have saved my problem.
