Hi,
I would like to know the current state of the OpenGL
implementation/support for SWT. I know there exists the experimental
release which works really fine. But does there exist any limitations in
comparison to JOGL (Java OpenGL from SUN) ??
When will there be an next release, or when will it be officially be
implemented in SWT ??
Finally I would like to know if it's possible to use SWT OpenGL in
Swing Applications by mixing them ??

Hi Gunnar, here are some answers:
- The package remains experimental, largely because it's not currently
high-priority compared to eclipse 3.1 plan items. This could hopefully
change in the future, but it won't be before the 3.1 release (end of June).
- The next release of the plug-in will likely be when the OSX implementation
is done. We're lacking the cycles to fit this in while giving higher
priority to eclipse 3.1 plan items though, so this could also be post-3.1
release, unless a patch with the implementation is submitted to
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=87503 .
- I don't think that the package has any limitations compared with JOGL,
other than their respective toolkit alignments (SWT/AWT).
- Using it in an SWT drawable within Swing: I haven't tried this, hopefully
someone else that has can give you an answer here.
