RCP App in OS X cannot gain focus [message #415358] Mon, 14 March 2005 14:58 Go to next message

Hi,

I've been trying to get a standalone rcp app running on OS X and I've
been running into the same problem regardless of how I launch the
application. The problem is, the rcp app is not being recognized by OS X
as an application, and will not accept user input. When launched, either
from within eclipse, or from the command line as a deployed app (using
the product configuration file in 3.1 m5), the app shows up fine on the
desktop, but does not show up in any of the standard places within OS X
where an application should show up (such as in the taskbar, and in the
list of running programs when cycling through running programs).

The applications user interface is responsive, I expand/minimize/close
views, but I can not give the application focus. So, to manipulate the
app, I have to move all the other applications which are on top of it,
because I can not actually bring it to the top of the screen.

Am I making any sense? Has anyone else had this type of problem?

I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.8 with Eclipse 3.1 m5.

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi,
Sorry, I don't have a solution for you, but wanted to let you know I'm
having a similar problem - though mine is just with a regular Java
application using SWT on pretty much the same setup. Outside of
Eclipse, the application opens and you can minimize, maximize, and close
it, but no buttons or fields are responsive, and even clicking on the
window does not bring it in front of any windows that may be in front of it.

The difference is that it works just fine running it within Eclipse, but
won't do much as a stand-alone app.

I downloaded the integration build I20050315 and the problems I was
having with focus in OS X have gone away. I guess I'll work with this
build until M6 comes out.

DT, I don't know if this helps you or not, maybe it was a bug in SWT
that was causing my problems and yours, or maybe you're dealing with
some other issue. It's probably worth trying the integration build to
see if it fixes your problem

Cheers,
Andrew
