Generated editor as standalone RCP supported in EMF 2.1.1? [message #396744] Thu, 10 November 2005 09:02 Go to next message

Hi,

After setting the Editor.Rich Client Platform to true, and following steps
from the "EMF goes RCP" article, the editor runs as an RCP application. This
is absolutely brilliant!

Is deployment of the generated editor as standalone RCP supported?

Following steps described in "RCP tutorial Part 1", I face following issues
when exporting the .editor project :
1) A java.lang.Memory error is thrown towards the end of the export process.
2) The exported editor starts but when opening a model nothing happens

Regards, Adelino.

Adelino,

Yes, you should be able to deploy the generated editor for RCP.

I've never seen this out of memory error. There is a JVM option to
increase the amount of memory, but I don't remember what it is. If
export is failing even when there is enough memory, that would be a
problem to open a platform bugzilla about (or maybe export is provided
by the PDE). Did things complete enough that you could proceed to step
2? Did your application function properly when testing it without
exporting it?

Running the editor without exporting works without any error.
Although there was an error during the export, I could start the exported
app.

Adelino,

If export didn't complete properly then maybe the result is incomplete.
Any failures when running your application should typically appear in
the workspace/.metadata/.log, but I'm not so sure where that shows up
for RCP.
