Use of Eclipse Comparaison Tool after JMerge [message #379966] Mon, 05 March 2007 14:01 Go to next message

Hi,

I'm studing the way of using Eclipse Comparaison Tool after an incremental
generation made with EMF and JMerge.
I would like to show to the user a display that looks like a CVS or SVN
merge result. This fonctionnality should reassure the user when he uses
tags to customize generated code.

Is there a simple way of reusing Eclipse Compare Tools ? Do you know if
there is an article about compare tool programming ?

Thanks in advance,

JB Volta.

JB,

Although not directly related to your questions, we're in the process of
starting a model comparison component in EMF/EMFT which uses Eclipse's
compare framework:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=157166
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=161382

But I'm not sure where to point you for general information about how
you might use JMerge to generate a result and then show a comparison. A
simple approach might be to use the GenModel's "Redirection Pattern" to
generate a side file rather than updating the actual file and then do
just a plain old resource/resource comparison on that.
