Hello.

I have looked around a bit but haven't found specific hints as to
whether it is possible to add code assist/completion to editors provided
by others.

Specifically I would like to implement code assist for an API that
exists in various script/programming languages and offer that in any
editor regardless who provides the editor (JDT, CDT, DLTK, etc.) and
without modifying the source code of each of those editors.

Do you know if it is possible to configure/register additional code
assist/completion functionality/providers to editors provided by others
in DLTK? What about Eclipse in general (this would be even better,
because the developer may decide to use a different Eclipse-based
solution for editing their JavaScript, Python, etc.) and then I would
still like to offer the code assist/completion to them, if possible.

Looking around I have found ScriptCompletionEngine and ICompletionEngine
mentioned in this group. Is looking at the source code of an
ICompletionEngine implementation like in the DLTK-JavaScript the best
way to get an overview of what steps and work is required to implement
code assist/completion?

Thank you for any hints and pointers.

With best regards
