Using Javascript with Eclipse [message #1867347] Sat, 22 June 2024 19:48 Go to next message

I am new to using Javascript on Eclipse. I have just installed
Version: 2024-06 (4.32.0)
Build id: 20240606-1231
(WIN 11)

I want to set up a new (empty) Javascript on Eclipse and proceed to code. I have seen several contrary pages on this that do not match the panels I am seeing. Can someone point me to a step by step procedure for bringing up Javascript on this release?

Thank You
Fritz

You haven't indicated which pages or panels you mean, but it will also matter exactly what's been installed. 2024-06 (4.32.0) only indicates an overall version, not
whether the Wild Web Developer feature is present (it supports editing JavaScript).

Thanks Nitin,
A few examples of install instructions that I mention above:
https://www.vogella.com/tutorials/JavaScript/article.html
https://help.eclipse.org/latest/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.wst.jsdt.doc%2Fstarted%2FnewjsFile.html

Using the 2nd as an example I do not see the web:javascript selection that is mentioned (see 1st attachment) which is why I was thinking my install was not correct. The "help:about" only lists the information that I cited. I do not see anything about plugins etc so that is the best that I can provide.

Based upon your post I checked https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/tools.wildwebdeveloper
It is not clear if this is the particular plugin that is needed or if there are other choices (I am trying to use "common" methods)--clicking on the latest version does not lead to an install or install instructions.

I see a "market place" entry in help: and I see "installed" for one of the options (see 2nd attachment) but this did not lead to the results above.

Thank

The Vogella tutorial is built around JSDT, which does offer a new JS file wizard, but was a different solution and might not be installed depending
on what features you picked. Wild Web Developer has different preference pages of its own, but no wizards that I know of.
