Eclipse Titan 7.1.0 release announcement [message #1828634]

Dear all,

We are glad to announce that version 7.1.0 of Eclipse Titan received approval from the Eclipse foundation.

This release introduces some major new features:

Initial support for Object-Oriented Programming extension of the TTCN-3 standard is implemented on the C side of the toolset.
The speed of the semantic checks done in the Designer has been improved, by parallelizing the algorithms:
- We have seen 2-4* faster code quality checks, thanks to the parallelization of Titanium checks.
- 1.2 - 2* (in synthetic example 3*) faster semantic checks, thanks to the parallelization of the Semantic checks done in the Designer.
- We have also seen a 20% - 30% reduction in overall processing time in case of large hierarchies, thank to parallelizing syntactic checks while processing project hierarchies.
(measurements done on laptops with 4 core CPUs)
Initial support for JSON encoding/decoding support is implemented in the Java code generator.

Next to some bug fixes, the release also contains some backward incompatible changes:

'omit' matching mechanism is no longer allowed for union fields
We had redesigned the placement of type descriptors in the generated Java code to support very large modules (containing thousands of types with encodings).
