When will there be support for Java 9 in WTP, or more specifically, the Tomcat adapter? Currently, Tomcat with Java 9 will not start. More specifically, the JVM terminates after clicking on Running on Server, probably as the runtime adds the deprecated/removed endorsed directory of Tomcat libs. Manually removing this parameter from the vm args triggers an automatical mechanism which adds it pretty soon again. (I am using the latest 4.7.1a U build of eclipse).

Tomcat 8.5 and 9 started stand alone via the provided startup shell scripts work pretty well with Java 9.

The Eclipse team promised full Java 9 support immediately after its final release on September 21th. Will there be a 3.9.1a build of WTP?

If you haven't already, add yourself to the CC List on https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=507338. The plan is to attach a replacement jar to the bug that can fix existing installs for the time being. Others will have to decide about issuing WTP 3.9.1a.
