Hello,

I still have some difficulties unterstanding how is the best approach to stay up to date with the latest Scout version.

I started with Neon last year, and so until now I was lucky just to change the version number in the POM file once in a while and correct the resulting minor compile errors. Biggest challenge in doing that was to catch up the information that a new version was being released (I think the latest 6.0.300.1 was not announced anywhere).

Now June has arrived and the Oxygen release will come. I have seen there is a RC1 available. A short test proved that in this case just swapping the version number in the POM file does not work. So, what is your recommended approach for going from Neon to Oxygen? When should I give 7.0 a try? Will there be a documentation what is needed to do to update?

Thanks,
Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,

You can find release notes and also a migration guide for every release on our github.io page: https://eclipsescout.github.io/.

For example for the upcoming 7.0 release, the release notes will be available here https://eclipsescout.github.io/7.0/release-notes.html and the migration guide here https://eclipsescout.github.io/7.0/migration-guide.html .

Remember to read the release notes of the previous releases as well. Between 6.0 and 7.0 we released a preview of the Oxygen build called 6.1 with its own release notes and migration guide, see https://eclipsescout.github.io/6.1.

Next week will be the final build of the release candidate. If everything goes fine, Oxygen will be released on June 28 and you can start upgrading :-)

Cheers,
Claudio
