As said here https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=481796 JDT in Oxygen has new indexing mechanism. From what I understand, this new indexing mechanism is the one creating the "index.db" file in the workspace, which is rather huge (around 300Mb).

For the moment, I'd like to avoid having this huge file in all my workspaces using Oxygen, thus I checked the preference "Disable new Java index". I removed the index.db but this gets recreated when Eclipse opens the workspace...

Is this expected?
