Have you tried the Eclipse data tools platform (DTP) forum?
The DTP forum is probably even more quiet than the Dali forum. :-)
The Dali forum would be the correct place to ask; but, yes, you are correct: it is pretty quiet.
Dali is most likely what is generating any messages related to your persistence.xml file. So: I'm guessing you actually do have the Dali plug-in installed. What Eclipse package are you using? If you are using "Eclipse IDE for EE Developers" you have Dali installed. Dali is what provides the functionality behind the JPA facet.
Finding a jar file listed in a persistence.xml file is not an insignificant task, given all the places it could be in your workspace. What is the exact error message? Where is the jar, relative to your project and/or workspace?
If this is the only Dali message causing you grief, you can disable it via the Dali preferences (Preferences > Java Persistence > JPA > Errors/Warnings).
