Hi,
After having published 2.4.0 our plan is to publish a major release
3.0.0 as the next publicly available version.
Reasons are:
- We want to clean up some API
- We will add support for Java9 (Java8 will be supported as well)
Major working areas:
- Make our code base JDK9 ready
- Invest time into e4 itself to reduce Equinox and OSGi-Dependencies
(mid-term goal is to make OSGi an optional thing)
- Code-Editor improvements
- we have some internal prototype to improve the editor performance,
we'll invest time into this prototype but it will most likely not
replace the current implementation
- make some of the custom feature implementation part of the core (eg
Block/Braces-Matching)
- look into ProjectionViewer from jface.text to provide collapsible
editor regions
- Runtime-APIs
- improvements for Databinding and JavaFX Property-System
- Merge back our CSS-Editor modifications we finished a long time ago
but we had time to test enough lately
If you have any input to our planing, please drop a note to this thread.
Tom
