I have looked thru the documentation and googled a bit but I still can't understand what is the benefit of using model-diagram synchronization and linking a model to the editor. In short, I am trying to understand what are the 'Use Cases' for these functions. May thanks!

Suppose you have created activity diagram with some diagram elements. If diagram is getting too big then you can delete element from diagram and you can export the diagram. And then you want to see the complete diagram again then you just need to sync with model.
