Why am I getting an update for 4.4? Thought it was scheduled for June 22 release. Where is the changelog?

You installed a nightly build from http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-nightly.
JGit/EGit release versions have a version number that ends with "-r".

The latest release is 4.3.0.201604071810-r which is available here
http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates
