Hi

When I start ecplipse i see my colors (preferences/java/editor/syntax coloring) as I set them for 2 seconds, then it resets all colors to the current theme (dark theme).
If i then close and restart Ecplise the colors are reset from the beginning.

I can bypass this by importing my prefereces from a file, but i dont want to do this EVERY time i start Eclipse, what can be wrong?

Thanks
Erik

Erik,

Maybe you had the preference recorder enabled and have recorded these
preferences previously so now they are being applied during startup.
You can use Navigate -> Open Setup -> Open User to open the Oomph setup
file in which your preferences would have been recorded. If you have a
preference file you often import manually, you can convert them to Oomph
preference tasks so that they're automatically applied to all your
workspaces. To do that, open the User setup as I just explained, and
find the toolbar button with the hover text "Import Preferences" (it's
likely near the far right of your toolbar area). In the dialog that
comes up, you can specify your Eclipse preference file, and see which
preference tasks are available in that file so you can choose which ones
you want always applied to all your workspaces of all your installations.

You could also choose to delete some or all the preference tasks in your
User.setup if you don't want them applied to all workspaces.

Didnt find import preferences button in the user setup.

I restarted and set all my preferences again (manually, not importing preferences) and now it doesnt reset when i restart Eclipse.

Yes it sound likely that its the preferences recording. Can i see what it has recorded and delete stuff i dont want? It seems strange it should reset to theme... Why would I want that?

Erik,

I'd post a picture, but those are generally mangled to death... Did you
manage to open the editor? If you give focus to a different editor and
then the setup editor again, you'll see the toolbars change and of
course the buttons that show up with the setup editor is active are the
ones to look at.

Yes, that's why I explained how to open the editor.. In there you'll
see user:/user.setup -> User -> User Preferences -> and under there
various groups under which are the individual preference tasks. You can
delete or modify them, but be careful with modifying them that the value
you change it to is a sensible one. Better to record the changes you
make in the dialog...

You don't want the same theme in all workspaces for all installations
all the time? Probably you want exactly that; if you record what you
want, it will do exactly that.

I have the same issue as the op.

Where do i find "Navigate -> Open Setup -> Open User to open the Oomph setup" ?

In the eclipse preferences, when i search for oomph i find a section for it but it is empty. There are no settings for oomph at all.

EDIT: btw. i have a fresh new install of eclipse WITHOUT importing any settings. And it still resets the editor colors, not the overall colors.

If you don't have that menu item from the main menu bar and you don't have Window -> Preferences -> Oomph in the preferences dialog then you don't have Oomph installed and your issue must be caused by something else.

If you open the Error log view (Window -> Show view...), use the big red X button to clear all the events, and then use File -> Restart, is anything showing up in the Error log view that might give a clue of something that's happening or going wrong during startup?
