Mylyn software sites mess [message #1714865] Tue, 17 November 2015 11:24 Go to next message

Hi Folks

I am using Eclipse 4.4 and CDT.

Mylyn recently refused to update for me due to not being able to find some other software site (some emf one I think IIRC). I did some jiggling with the software sites list and got it to update in the end.

While I was at this however I noticed that the Mylyn sites listings have ballooned!

Do I really need all of the following listed and enabled?

http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/latest
http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/drops/3.14.2/v20150218-1814/
http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/drops/3.16.0/v20150609-2039/
http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/drops/3.17.0/v20150909-1855/

The following are listed but appear disabled

http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/3.14
http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/3.15
http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/3.16
http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/3.17

Can (should) I delete or disable some of these, surely the 'releases/latest' site should have been enough? What does 'drops' in the URI even refer to?

Ta

Hi,

releases/latest should be the only Mylyn site you need. If that is not the case, please attach the error you get when trying to install from it.

The releases/* sites are composites which grab content from the actual release builds, which are under drops. I'm not sure why you'd see the drops sites unless you added them explicitly. Maybe P2 automatically adds children of composite sites for some reason, but there should be no harm in deleting them.

Cheers,
Sam
