Hi all,
Yesterday evening I used Eclipse Luna and everything worked fine, now I
start up and after the splash screen, nothing happens. The process is
running in the background, but I get no UI. I can see it with ps aux
though.
I just deleted eclipse and untarred the thing again, but nothing
changes. The packaged eclipse from linux was too old, so I downloaded a
tar, which is in /usr/local/
Running on Linux Mint 17.1, 64 bit
$ java -version
java version "1.7.0_75"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.4) (7u75-2.5.4-1~trusty1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.75-b04, mixed mode)
Any help appreciated.
Cheers, H.

It is named eclipse-java-luna-SR2-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz.

I can't say what your problem was, however, I can offer this expanded
set of notes beyond what's in this forum as a sticky post:

Thanks. I took your advice of installing Eclipse locally to the heart
and indeed now it works. I hope it will continue to do so.
Cheers, H.
