Hi,
My company is looking to implement the OHF Bridge for our .NET
application for the 2008 Connectathon. Do we need to support our own
Apache/Tomcat environment to support the web services that are available?
Thanks,

Hi Eishay,
Thanks for your response.
I understand that you are recommending that we have our own Tomcat
instance for Connectathon 2008. Understanding that, I'm also assuming
that we'll need to setup and support our own Tomcat for our production
environment as well (post Connectathon). Am I correct in my assumption?

Looks like it will be a requirement from IHE, though it would be better to use a
central one. For testing before the connectathon (MESA tests) we'll have a
public instance of Tomcat on the open web for everyone to test with.

True. The bridge holds the RHIO configurations which are specific to your
specific RHIO (IP address, codes, etc). In addition for security reasons you
would probably want all of your communication to be local and behind the same
firewall.

From an NHS perspective one wonders wrt OHF tooling & CEN 13606/OpenEHR.
Given OpenEHR is OSS etc....

Yes, we were required to run our own Bridge last year, tomcat/ohf bride on
windows. The IBM team were awesome and resolved issues in the bridge as
they came up and made a local site available during connectathon to get
updates to the bridge, plus they, I think Matthew, put a config file that
included all the important combinations of registries, repo, pix/pdq, and
audit servers.
I have been out of the Java camp for a while, so once Eishay and Matthew
set me straight on how to configure and update the necessary config files
I was good to go.
thanks

Yes, we are .net platform; there are two sides of the coin here -
interface to the OHF Bridge, which is very easy using the built in proxy
that vs05.net generates. We map the brige objects to ours at the point of
sending and receiving and use the proxy (referene.cs) for this and not any
additional generated .cs classes. Dealing with Documents (CDA etc) is the
other side and we have a very complex interop component that handles IHE
and other document types and is where you spend 80% of the time.
if you need to talk you have my email above.

You mentioned that you ran your own Tomcat/OHF Bridge on Windows, I had
understood that running the bridge required an Apache (non-windows)
environment. Did I misunderstand something?
Thanks,
Tone

Hi Tone,
Yes, we recommend that the OHF Bridge be run in Apache Tomcat 5.5, which
does have a Windows binary version available. It's actually pretty
straightforward to setup.
http://tomcat.apache.org/download-55.cgi
I think Eishay already gave you a link, but here are the install
instructions for the OHF Bridge:

We tested the Bridge on Windows, Linux, MacOS, and AIX.
Since the full environment is 100% Java it should be able to run on any
platform that supports Java.

I was good to go.
thanks
Donnie

Thanks for your input, Donnie.

I think Eishay already gave you a link, but here are the install
instructions for the OHF Bridge:

We tested the Bridge on Windows, Linux, MacOS, and AIX.
Since the full environment is 100% Java it should be able to run on any
platform that supports Java.
