How to have a tomcat server added that is already running/started outside of eclipse? [message #970048] Sat, 03 November 2012 15:55 Go to next message

Is there a way to add a tomcat server that is already running outside of eclipse?

I have two running servers already one is service and one is a running on its own from cmdline.

I would like to "run on server" with my code..but it appears eclipse will always to try to start the server on its own.

I want to start and keep these running for other reasons outside of eclipse, but would love to simply point the running tomcats and have eclipse not need to start it.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can use an existing, running Tomcat server and rig Eclipse to
deploy to it. This is, however, not a newcomers' forum question. Please
post in the Eclipse web tools forum instead.

I'm not going to answer you because I don't prefer to do debug this way
and have never myself done it, but I had a colleague who preferred to do
this, and I watched him cycle through edit-debug-correct, etc., so I
know it can be done. You'll likely encounter someone with knowledge in
the Eclipse web tools forum.
