Getting HTTP ERROR: 404 when running RAP Application [message #95031] Mon, 30 June 2008 05:19 Go to next message

Hi,

I occassionally get HTTP ERROR: 404 when launching RAP Application. I
usually have to restart Eclipse to remedy this, but this happens so often.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Setya

Setya,

please provide some more details. E.g. are you using the 'RAP Launcher'?

Cheers,
Rüdiger

Hi,

Thanks for all the tips.

The problem repeats for each launching attempt on 1.1.0R. When I fall back
to 1.1.0M3 the problem doesn't occur too often except usually when I open
Eclipse for the 1st time.

Regards,

Setya

Setya,

there was no change in the launcher code between the two mentioned
builds.

The reason why a 404 occurs is, that the launcher runs the Equinox
application and - after a short delay - opens a browser window that
sends a request to the just started Equinox application.
Now, the bundles necessary to service the request might be ready -
or even not.
Whether the bundles are ready probably depends on various factors
like the general performance of your machine, its current workload
and CPU scheduling, how much code is executed at bundle startup, ...

Cheers,
Rüdiger
