Using multiple users with Oracle XE [message #938378] Tue, 09 October 2012 16:35 Go to next message

Hello,

I am very new to using Jubula. I have worked through the cheat sheets and now we want set up a DB so that multiple users can create and write test cases.

Here is the problem we have. We have the oracle DB set up. We have two users for the DB. Both accounts can login through Jubula and create a project which gets saved into the DB. User 1 can connect to the same DB but can't see the project that user 2 has created and saved.

Is this the normal set up? Does this sound like a Jubula issue or a DB set up issue? We are using Oracle 11g xe.

Thanks for you help.

The Jubula data is created for the account you are using. If the 2 users are using different accounts they won't see each others project. The obvious solution is to use one account for all Jubula users working on the same project - or even on different ones.

For the time being there are no plans to support different users sharing a DB scheme. DB persistence is done by JPA (EclipseLink) and supporting more advanced configurations would be less portable.

Ahh ok. Thanks for the reply. Now I understand why we thought we were having trouble. Is there any file protection or locking built into Jubula if we are all using the same account for the DB?

Thanks,
Your information has bee really helpful.

Jubula does locking on elements which are not allowed to be edited by more than one user. You will see a message that the element is in use by another user if you try to change a locked element.
