jawaw.exe uses %100 of CPU [message #925625] Thu, 27 September 2012 18:35 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi,

i recently upgraded my HDD to SSD (120gb sandisk) and reinstalled my OS (windows 7 64bit)

i installed JDK 7 and JRE 7 and also i downloaded the latest classic version of eclipse (4.2 i think)

when i open the eclipse my computer starts freezing even my mouse icon.. i checked from task manager and saw that javaw.exe uses %90~100 of CPU when i open eclipse. and when i try to open a PHP file with 20.000-30.000 lines of code. it completely crashes.. because of javaw.exe

i reinstalled all of them a thousand times. i installed avast and scanned for virus and i also checked my ssd. All the other programs are working great.. photoshop cs5 opens in 1-2 seconds. But the programs that uses java like Netbeans. they always freezing computer.

i checked this situation on my laptop which uses windows 7 32-bit OS. However , when i open eclipse in there , i checked from task manager and i didn't see javaw.exe on use. it uses only eclipse.exe , not javaw.exe. But on 64-bit system , it uses javaw.exe and it really slows down the process.

how can i resolve this?

Levent,

Maybe you need to increase the MaxPermSize in the eclipse.ini. Are you
sure eclipse is finding the JDK you're expecting it to use? You might
try the -vm option in the eclipse.ini to specify exactly which javaw.exe
you want it to use.

i only have 1 jdk version installed and it finds it correctly.. i also tried it on the ubuntu. it is also same there.

is it possible to use eclipse without javaw.exe running on the background?? because on my laptop that uses 32 bit windows , eclipse doesn't open javaw.exe. it runs only eclipse.exe
