Eclipse 2.1.1 slow loading [message #91508] Thu, 10 July 2003 21:05 Go to next message

I just installed 2.1.1 and have noticed a distinct change in the time it
takes to load Eclipse from my previous install. Are there things that I
can do to improve the time it takes to load? I have searched the
newsgroup but am missing (and have not been able to get) all messages
between June 26 - July 7, 2003.

System: k6-2 533
Linux: Debian
Kernel: 2.4.21

It takes about 1 minute to load.

Thanks.
Phil

I have also the impression that it got longer startup times with
2.1.1. Anyway, enable debugging output:

eclipse -debug \
<path to workspace>/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.pde.core/.options \
-consolelog

after setting some of the options to true (don't really know
which... eclipse.core sounds good...). Afterwards you should get some
ouput, where you can have a look where much time is spend...
