| Automated testing tools for Eclipse [message #90097] | Mon, 07 July 2003 14:52 | |
| Eclipse User | | | | | Anyone using / know of a good automated testing tool to use for testing eclipse applications? We have not found anything that works really well.
The closest match we've found is Silk Test from Segue. However, we have
run into a recurring problem when testing UIs. Most objects do not have a
caption, and based on their hierarchy there is no text in that level of the
hierarchy to give them a name. The window ID for menu items stays the same
for the menu, BUT FOR ALL OTHER OBJECTS the window ID will be different each
time the dialog they are in is brought up! Is there any way to get Eclipse
to use the same window ID each time a dialog box or control is displayed on
 the screen?

 thanks,

Some your problems can be solved using keyboard shortcuts.

P.S I've done wide investigation about testing tools for Java applications,
there are no universal tool that makes robust functionality/UI tests.
