Hi there,
I have been ripping my hair out all morning with this error. I am very new to ecclipse so don't throw to many curve balls my way! Razz. Anyway, I get the error
Java was started but returned exit code=1

when starting eclipse.

I have looked at many other tutorials but non of them have helped me. Sad

Please ask any questions,

Thanks,
Sam

Most likely your Java and Eclipse bitness is different. Ensure that both
have 32 or both 64 bit!

try creating a batch file and redirect the standard output and errors... or try finding for eclipse log if there is any... that would be a starter.

Hi,
I got the same problem(java was started but returned exit code=1).I once again unzipped the downloaded eclipse zip file(.zip) this time to a different location(root drive c:\).Then eclipse worked fine.I think in my case the unzip was the problem. This may fix the problem as in my case.
