How create split panes in text editor [message #89606]

Hello,

I'm using Eclipse 3.1. In the Java text editor I would like to split the
editor viewing area into two scroll panes - top and bottom panes. That way
I can view different parts of the file at the same time. I've searched the
Eclipse Help and looked at my Eclipse books. Please tell me how to do this.

Window > New Editor will produce a new editor (tab) on the currently
selected file. You can then drag that editor around the "editors area"
and position it adjacent to the other editor(s).
