I see this message in the log...

!MESSAGE CSS property 'simple' has been deprecated: renamed as swt-simple

Will swt-simple work with old versions of eclipse or only 4.2?

I tried to search for some documentation on swt-simple but haven't come up with much to determine when it was introduced.

Yes, swt-simple works with 4.2. What older versions of eclipse do you mean? 4.1?

CSS doesn't drive styling in the eclipse 3.x stream.

Specifically 4.1, 3.7, 3.6?

Sounds like to me from you comment that
swt-simple will work with 4.2 and 4.1

But not 3.6

swt-simple works in 4.2. simple works in 4.1 and 4.2 but generates a warning in 4.2. But Indigo is based on 3.7 and AFAIK no one is using 4.1.

Neither keywords work in 3.x, as 3.x doesn't ship the SWT CSS engine.
