using the F1 key, I get the associated page without any error.
The problem is that if I leave and start again eclipse, the javadoc
location modification has noot been saved (if I check the javadoc location
using the above manipulations, I find the sun site).
Do you have an idea why the javadoc location is not saved ?

Try setting it in Java Runtime Preferences (Window->Preferences, Java->JRE,
Edit). The entry needs to contain protocol like: "file:/D:/jdk/docs/api/"
