There is a new version of the IBM DTFJ Adapter for the Eclipse Memory
Analyzer Tool. This was released 10 February 2009 on IBM developerWorks.

This includes minor bug fixes and a reader for Portable Heap Dump (PHD)
files generated by IBM Virtual machines with the heapdump option.
PHD files are generated by default when an IBM VM runs out of memory, so
you may have come across these. PHD files are compressed heap dumps. They
have object information, including object and array sizes and links
between objects. They do not have primitive field or array data, and have
limited class loader information. The DTFJ/PHD reader also uses the
javacore file (if available) generated at the same time as the PHD file to
add class loader data.
A system dump processed with JExtract has full heap information including
primitive values, so I would recommend a system dump if you have a choice.
The adapter will install over the top of the previous version of the
adapter in MAT - you do not need a fresh install of MAT.
