[Acceleo] generation exception after deploy [message #878415] Tue, 29 May 2012 05:02 Go to next message

Hello all,

I have an Acceleo transformation which works fine when invoked from the target platform launched from Eclipse (PDE launch configuration).
When I try to deploy the jars of the same plug-ins I get the following exception:

...
Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException
at org.eclipse.acceleo.engine.service.AcceleoService.doGenerate(AcceleoS
ervice.java:565)
at org.eclipse.acceleo.engine.service.AbstractAcceleoGenerator.generate(
AbstractAcceleoGenerator.java:193)
at com.thalesgroup.dts.l905.dti.export.ui.ControlUnitGenerator$1.run(Con
trolUnitGenerator.java:45)
at org.eclipse.jface.operation.ModalContext$ModalContextThread.run(Modal
Context.java:121)

It seems that the template files do not get loaded properly - that line accesses the type of a parameter of the main template - which is a class defined by my own ecore model.
I've checked and all plugins seem to be resolved.

Has anyone had this problem before ? What could be wrong ?
How can I further diagnose this problem ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use acceleo 3.2.0 / Indigo SR1.

Best regards,
Vlad Gheorghe

Hi,

Since there is a known issue with the compilation in Acceleo 3.2.0, I would first of all advise you to try with Acceleo 3.2.1: http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/m2t/acceleo/updates/releases/3.2

Then, check if the compiled modules are in your jar (.emtl files).

Hi Stephane,

Thanks for the suggestion !

After upgrade to indigo SR2 + Acceleo 3.2.1 it worked.

Just a clarification :
Which is the Acceleo version delivered with the indigo SR2 (3.7.2) simultaneous update ?

It doesn't seem one can get acceleo 3.2.1 from the indigo update site.

Thanks again !

Vlad

Hi,

Eclipse 3.6.x Helios -> Acceleo 3.0.x
Eclipse 3.7.x Indigo -> Acceleo 3.1.x
Eclipse 3.8.x / 4.2.x Juno -> Acceleo 3.3.x

Acceleo 3.2.x was released outside of the regular Eclipse release train since we did not want to wait one year to ship new features. It is only available thanks to the Acceleo update sites. Being on the release train, we have to release something along with each new release of Eclipse but we can also have some releases outside of the regular Eclipse lifecycle.
