Useful Tabbed Pane in GMF [message #84573] Mon, 11 December 2006 11:19 Go to next message

Hi everybody,

I'm testing GMF now but I'm afraid to see that all my model have to be on a
single diagram.
I see that a "tabbed pane" is not yet implemented (or another similar way to
split my diagram into smaller modules). When you have a large
metamodel/model with a lots of nodes/connections, You can easily imagine
that it's really annoying...

Perhaps this helpful "tabbed pane" is already existing ? If yes, I haven't
seen it!
If no, I hope this will be included in GMF 2.0...
But perhaps somebody has integrated his own tabbed pane classes in GMF 1.0
??

Thanks for help!
Regards,

benren.

Hello Ben,

You can generate several different diagrams for different "aspects" of your
metamodel and use these diagrams simultaneously - see UML2 diagrams. Do you
really need several tabs on the same diagrams or several editors is enough
for you?

Hi Alex,

I'd like to "link" elements from one diagram to another ones... Tabs are
helpful because we stay in the same diagram so we can access all the
existing metamodel elements. If I use several diagrams is it possible to
do that ?

Hello Ben,

You can add a shortcut to the element form diagram-1 into the diagram-2 as
a result, corresponding element will be visible on second diagram.

To update diagram-1 after modification of diagram-2 without pressing save
you can use same (shared) editing domain for both diagram editors.
