Find current open file in Package Explorer? (sync tree to editor) [message #81573] Tue, 24 June 2003 12:53 Go to next message

If I have a file open in an editor (cy using Ctrl-click on a method in
another class, for example), is it possible to "find" that file in the
package explorer window?

I often want to browse the methods or use right-click on the class, but
currently I need to manually browse through the packages to find the class
I'm actually in.

Thanks.

Yes. Click the icon at the top of the packages explorer view that looks
like two arrows pointed at each other with the tooltip "Link with Editor"

You could use the outline view for this, too.

I don't see this icon at the top of my package explorer (Eclipse 2.1).
I see: Left Arrow, Right Arrow, Up, Collapse All, Down-Arrow

Hmm... I don't have a down arrow. (using eclipse 2.1, too myself).

Anyone else care to comment?

Oh, unless you mean the down arrow next to the big X. I do have that, and
in fact, when I click it, I have the "Link with Editor" option at the
bottom of the menu that pops up.

Do you?

Ah, apparently I wasn't working with the latest 2.1 release.
I downloaded the latest 2.1 from eclipse.org and put it in place and now it
works beautifully. Exactly what I wanted :)

Thanks
