Help Requested [message #786299] Mon, 30 January 2012 03:39 Go to next message

Hello - I am a complete newbie with EGL having just downloaded the workbench. I started by looking at the 'Getting Started' tutorial. Everything seemed ok but when I select Debug As > EGL Rich UI Application, the browser (IE9) opens blank window and nothing happens, except it looks as though the window is still loading something.

The operating system in Windows 7 64 bit.

Can anyone please suggest what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Kind Regards

Does the application work in Preview and Design mode? IE9 is expected to work, but not fully covered in testing according to http://wiki.eclipse.org/EDT:Supported_Platforms If it always happens, you may want to open a bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/enter_bug.cgi?product=EDT

Hello Tony - yes the designer and preview seem ok. I will be interested in hearing if other people are having trouble with IE9. If that is indeed the case, I'll feel confident to do as you say and report a bug.

Kind Regards

Hi Ron,

IE9 is not supported by the Rich UI debugger, due to IE9 preventing the use of synchronous XMLHttpRequests which the debugger is reliant upon. Here's a technote for Rational Business Developer about this, which applies to EDT as well: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21569917

You'll need to set some other browser as your external browser, as described in the technote.
