Instantiation a popup test UI of Sapphire [message #760030]

Hello,

I was wondering if a mechanism is being worked on now to simply click an action and have the constructed Sapphire UI popup a test showing how the UI would appear when run in eclipse.

Googles WindowBuilderPro, Jigloo, and XWT all have such tools. This makes usage quite user-friendly. This would help us a lot.

I am not familiar with this action in other tools, but how is this different from simply running your code using regular means?

Hello Konstantin,
To run the code currently, just to see the UI, I have to execute the eclipse 4.2 product each time!

With a popup UI button, I simply clicked the button and it instantiates the UI as it would appear when eclipse is run.

Download/install via update site Google WindowBuilder Pro, create a UI using SWT, JFace widgets and then click the test button on the context menu. The UI will popup as it would appear when eclipse is run.

For Sapphire, this feature is even more important since currently there is no represntatation of the UI as it would appear when the eclipse product is run, quite unlike the other tools mentioned previously.

It sounds like you are referring to WYSIWYG preview. It is possible that we would implement something like that for Sapphire in the future, but there are no plans at the moment to do so.

Yes, it is WYSIWYG preview.

I hope this will float to the top of your priorities not too far in the distance future.
